Vancouver, a city surrounded by mountains and water, offers a perfect blend of To make the most of your 3-day trip to Vancouver, here’s a curated guide to help you plan your itinerary.

Located along the west coast of British Columbia, Vancouver is the capital city of the province. It is a small city (and thus we suggest only a 3-day stay) but with much to offer for anyone.

Diverse in its culture and demographic, the city boasts a myriad of food options from all over the world in its urban centers. 😋

With a very dependable public transport system (one of the best in North America truly), immerse yourself into the city by exploring vibrant neighboorhoods like Kitsilano, UBC, and downtown.

Finally, soak in the gorgeous scenery and bask in the outdoor sun that will instantly rejuvenate you with fresh air and beautiful smells of nature.

Home to many beautifully up kept parks, beaches, and mountains, there is no shortage of outdoor spaces you can visit in your 3 days there.

Let’s kickstart your Vancouver Itinerary planning now!

(Tip💡: If you have a driver’s license that is issued in English, you can immediately rent a car with Turo during your trip there. It is so simple!)

Day 1: Explore Vancouver’s Neighbourhoods

Stanley Park: The First, Largest, And Most Beloved Park in Vancouver

View from Stanley Park along the sea wall route

On your first day, get a feel for the city by exploring the city’s first and largest park.

Start by taking a bike ride around Stanley Park and coast along the sea wall route. 🚲

Take in the views of the city from the shoreline, and observe the gorgeous mountains in the backdrop of North Vancouver.

Keep your eye out for seals and otters that like to hang around the water around Stanley Park.

Granville Island: Tourist Hotspot For Local Crafts And Exquisite Foods

Entrance into Granville Island

This place is a popular spot for both tourists and locals. Expect a bit of a crowd over there!

The Granville public market is home to many food options and small locally-owned stores.

Some local favourites include Lee’s Donuts and The Lobster Man. 🍩

Go Fish – Popular takeaway Joint

If you want some hearty fish and chips, head over the Go Fish which is just beside Granville island.

On your second day, visit the UBC Anthropology Museum, which has reopened since June 2024, after years of renovation.

Specially featured works in the anthropology museum focuses around the First Nations culture, a term used to identify the Indigenous peoples in Pacific Northwest Canada.

Check out the Beaty Biodiversity Museum as well, which contains the samples of many prehistoric fossil samples, to enlarge your knowledge of biodiversity history. 🐳

Take a stroll around the beautiful UBC campus and explore the Japanese Garden, Botanical Garden, or Wreck Beach.

(Note: Wreck Beach is a public nude beach and there are certain customs to respect. There is also a very long flight of stairs to climb to go into and exit from the beach.)

Understandably, some may not like going to a nude beach, you can consider to head out from UBC and go on over to the Kitsilano Beach.

The famous beach is especially popular among the Vancouverites as there are beautiful views of English Bay and downtown Vancouver and a wonderful heated outdoor saltwater pool (It is currently closed for repairs, and hopefully available by summer 2025).

Science World: Interactive Exhibits Showcasing Art, Science, and Technology

If you are travelling with kids, head over to the Science World where they will have a blast of a time.

They feature interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits and amazing live demonstrations that will keep your children engaged.

Make sure to book your visit before heading down!

Day 3: Get Out of the City and into Nature

On your last day, discover Vancouver’s natural beauty.

Lynn Canyon: Lynn Valley’s Best Kept Secret

The main attraction, the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge, towers 50 meters (160ft) over the canyon and make your jaw drop over the magnificent rapids flowing down from the mountains.

Explore the short hiking trails and take a dip at the 30-foot pool to cool yourself down.

The Lynn Canyon Park is a perfect escape for nature lovers, that is not challenging and thus friendly for ages of all kind.

Sea to Sky Highway: Take A Long Scenic Drive Along The West Coast And Up To Whistler

This is a bonus special for those traveling with a car.

Spend the rest of the day doing a joyride along Sea to Sky Highway.

Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Howe Sound and surrounding mountains, and take in the pristine air far away from the city center.

(Tip: The best time to drive the Sea to Sky Highway is from June to September)

After that, it is time to say goodbye to this beautiful city that is truly a dream for anyone who loves an escape to nature but needs urban comfort for everyday living.

The food and activities in this itinerary are generally quite affordable (most of it was spent on food 😆), and are very accessible with or without a car.

We hope the picture gives you a sneak peek into what’s to come so you can make full use of your time and money when you are there.

Happy travels!
