Ever wanted to eat a lot without gaining weight?

Have you been jealous of that friend you have who eats like 3 plates of rice but somehow stays lean like a 6 pack?💪

Unfortunately for most of us, eating a lot of food comes with dire consequences, like excessive weight gain.

But for the chosen few, like competitive eater Zermatt Neo, it’s a whole different story.

Eating effortlessly yet still looking lean, he has not just mastered not gaining weight but also how to make a living out of it.

Zermatt Neo’s First Introduction to the World Of Competitive Eating

Zermatt Neo’s journey into the world of competitive eating began as a dare in 2013 when he was challenged to take on a Wagyu Burger Challenge.

He and 4 other friends decided to take on the challenge, which would have cost $80 if he failed to finish within 20 minutes.

Unfortunately for the other 4, they did not have the latent potential that Zermatt possessed and were unable to finish the burger in 20 minutes.

Despite being his first-ever challenge, Zermatt was able to beat the previous record by a significant margin.🕐

This feat sparked a fire in Zermatt, and he began to explore the world of competitive eating.

Zermatt’s Neo The Internet Sensation

Even after beating the challenge by a significant margin, Zermatt was still reluctant to post his culinary adventures online.

Only in 2015, when his client offered to help him edit his videos, did Zermatt start uploading his food videos on YouTube.

Eventually, his early videos started gaining traction, and he began to enjoy the attention he was receiving.

Feeling that the results were addictive, Zermatt was encouraged to do more as he could see people engaging and getting hooked on his content.

However, it took him another three years to finally decide to move into competitive eating content creation full-time.

Now, Zermatt has amassed a total of 1.43 million subscribers on YouTube and 1.1 million followers on Instagram, making him one of the top social media influencers in Singapore.

In an interview, Zermatt shared his thoughts on what it takes to be a competitive eater.

So, how does one train for competitive eating?

According to Zermatt, it involves a mix of experimentation and mental preparation.

To build the mental strength required and increase food intake capacity, he suggests simply cooking up a large amount of food and practicing—straightforward yet effective.

Mental readiness is key, as Zermatt emphasizes that “50% goes into preparation for speed, capacity, and technique.”

Competitive eating, for him, isn’t merely about appetite; it’s a sport requiring rhythm and immense mental fortitude to push through the challenge.

When it comes to strategy, Zermatt revealed that he typically performs water fast the day before a competition.

Starting with proteins, which are denser, is also part of his game plan.

He also highlights the importance of having a well-thought-out approach rather than simply relying on hunger to guide you.

However, competitive eating also comes with its fair share of risks.

Eating such large quantities of food and often unhealthy food comes with huge risks, such as heart attacks and obesity.

Hence, Zermatt emphasizes the importance of taking care of oneself and mitigating any potential risks.

So, what does Zermatt do when he’s not competing?

He spends a lot of time in the gym doing cardio every single day.
