Milwaukee lies on the Lake Michigan shore above Chicago, but the urban area almost never stops. Suppose you want to explore both cities but focusing on the Wisconsin capital. In that case, you could find affordable accommodation in South Milwaukee, a lakefront neighbourhood that accommodates the International airport and one of the more famous public parks.

A different kind, but for many equally impressive, is the Harley Davidson Museum. You can see the historical models of the storied manufacturer, including the first-ever, produced Harley.

Visit Milwaukee Public market that competes with Seattle for the best farmer market in the country. The enormous offer of independent vendors, locally sourced quality products, and cold beer from the beer truck will make a wonderful afternoon.

Outdoor activities in Milwaukee

Milwaukee is known for harsh winter weather, but summers bring out thousands to beaches along Lake Michigan. If you want to avoid huge crowds in the famous Bradford Beach, you can head down the Grant Park Beach in South Milwaukee. You can swim in the lake, sunbathe, play beach volleyball, or grab a quick snack.

Large bodies of water partially define the city. You can walk or take a long bike ride along the Lake Michigan shores on the Lakefront Trail. Milwaukee River runs through the town and goes into the Lake. There are guided kayak groups, which are excellent outdoor activities and sightseeing in the scenic downtown area.

Another fun thing to do is walking along the Riverwalk, a more than three miles long boardwalk with plenty of bars and restaurants along the way.

One of the biggest city parks is in South Milwaukee. The Grant Park is a lakefront, public area with a beach, plenty of hiking trails through woods, and you can play golf on an 18-hole golf course.

Milwaukee County Zoo is home to more than 2,000 animals, and some of the highlights are endangered snow leopards, lions, and the Humbold penguins that live in the enormous tank.

Chill on the Hill Milwaukee

The city is known for many festivals, and every summer from June through August, you can visit the Chill on the Hill Milwaukee. Every Tuesday, the county park draws formidable crowds for live concerts, lots of food and drink vendors, and lively summer fun on the open park stage.

Before heading for your airline ticket, make your esta status check. It is recommended to wait for travel authorization approval before making the trip and accommodation’s final arrangements. Once you obtain the ESTA documents, you can explore the US for up to 90 days, and this large Midwest urban center is an excellent starting point.
