Singapore measures only around 734 kilometres squared. For locals and visitors alike, it’s likely that we’ve all visited the most well-known landmarks like Sentosa Island, Marina Bay and Changi Airport.

Because of this, we might think that we’ve seen all that Singapore has to offer. However, within Singapore’s less visited places, there are actually things that make them unique.

After all, with the lifelong debate of whether it’s west side best side or east side best side, surely there are enough differences that makes the localities of Singapore different from one another.

Today, we will explore the locality of Choa Chu Kang, located in the western part of Singapore, which is located on the North-South (red) MRT line. 🔴

For those who have a SAFRA membership, you’re in luck as you’ll be able to make use of the brand new facilities in this SAFRA, which aren’t found in other SAFRA locations yet.

Some of the landmark sports facilities they offer include an all-weather sheltered swimming pool that still allows its users to enjoy the open air, one of the top gyms in Singapore, an EnergyOne gym, and Climb Central which offers 40 climbing lanes. 🧗

Other than that, they also offer many other sports facilities, both outdoor and indoor, F&B dining places, and other amenities like Billiards, Bowling, and an online gaming centre.

Not only that but right outside of SAFRA Choa Chu Kang is Choa Chu Kang Park if you’d like to go for a jog or a simple walk in the park while enjoying the greenery. 🌳

Our next stop will take you to Keat Hong Shopping Centre. To other Singaporeans, this might be just another neighbourhood market and while that’s true, there is something that might make it worth visiting even if you’re not living around Choa Chu Kang.

On the upper levels of the shopping centre, going up the only escalator you’ll find inside is where you’ll find a coffee shop. In this coffee shop, you’ll find the store that sells one of the best Roti Prata stores in Singapore.

Whether it is the curry comes with the mildly crispy and tasty roti prata, they offer something that makes their roti prata store special and will surely be well-liked by those who love roti prata. 🍛

Not only that, but their prices are neighbourhood coffee shop prices as well, with each plain prata selling for just $1.30 at the time of writing.

Especially on weekend mornings, the queue can be extremely long, and you may need to wait up to 30 minutes or more. So if you want to try out one of the best pratas in Singapore but want to avoid a long queue, consider coming at a different time.

Now there are multiple ways to come here. From Choa Chu Kang Interchange, you can take either bus 300 or 301 which will take you to the lower-level entrance. To enter via the upper-level entrance, you can take bus 172 or 983 from Choa Chu Kang Interchange.

Finally, we have Choa Chu Kang’s signature (actually, it’s only one for now) mall, Lot One. Located right next to Choa Chu Kang MRT (North-South line), everyone who visits Choa Chu Kang will likely pass by this mall.

To Youths who go to schools that are in the vicinity of Choa Chu Kang, the rooftop of this mall is likely a familiar hangout spot, where once school ends, usually nearing dinner time, groups of teenagers will bring food up to the rooftop to sit on the floor and eat together.

For those looking for amenities, for a neighbourhood mall, Lot One offers quite a few, including a Shaw Theatre movie theatre, a Pop Mart store, and a variety of clothing stores including a Uniqlo outlet.

Behind the mall is where you will find the Choa Chu Kang bus interchange, where if you happen to be going to the Singapore Zoo, you can take bus 927 there.

That’s all for the 4 places that we find that anyone who’s visiting Choa Chu Kang should consider visiting.

We hope you can enjoy your visit to the heartland of Choa Chu Kang whether by enjoying the facilities at SAFRA, the mega playground, indulging in one of Singapore’s best roti prata, or any other place that we missed out.
